9/11 is the first event in my lifetime that i can say "i remember exactly where i was when it happened, and how i found out." i don’t think there is anything before that event that i can say that about.
i’ve been watching a lot of the specials on tv. it really upsets me, as i’m sure it does everyone else who watches it. it makes me really uncomfortable watching footage from that day. it will always make me cry and will always give me goosebumps.
rip to all the innocent people who died that day. we will never forget.
"It’s funny how one summer can change everything. It must be something about the heat and the smell of chlorine, fresh-cut grass and honeysuckle, asphalt sizzling after late-day thunderstorms, the steam rising while everything drips around it. something about long, lazy days and whirring air conditioners and bright plastic flip-flops from the drug store thwacking down the street. Something about fall being so close, another year, another Christmas, another beginning. So much in one summer, stirring up like the storms that crest at the end of each say, blowing out all the heat and dirt leaving everything gasping and cool. Everyone can reach back to one summer and lay a finger to it, finding the exact point when everything changed.”
